Six Pictures of Lee Miller

This year the Festival presents the World Premier of Jason's new musical: Six Pictures of Lee Miller - book by Edward Kemp and inspired by The Lives of Lee Miller by Antony Penrose. The Lives of Lee Miller

Muse, model, surrealist and war photographer, Lee Miller witnessed at first hand the best and worst of the twentieth century. Man Ray was her lover; Picasso her friend; she danced with Chaplin and bathed in Hitler's bath tub. Her work includes Vogue fashion spreads and the first images of Dachau. But after the war she put away her camera and devoted herself to married life in Sussex.

The ‘six pictures’ of the title move the action from Upstate New York c1923 to Paris c1930, then on to Egypt, London, Europe in 1944–5 (St. Malo, Rennes, Paris, Cologne & Munich!) and finally to Sussex in 1953.
